I’m curious. What do you do about the cleaning dilemma?

Take my poll because I would like to know.  I’ve tried all sorts of things. I’m not judging anyone for what they use. I just thought the poll would be interesting. Feel free to leave your comments, too.

Some of my kids and I are very sensitive to cleaners.  I’ve quit using cleaners from the store because of it.  I’ve been frustrated with “Non-Toxic’ Cleaners that give us the same issues.  When I read the labels they too seem to be full of fragrance and chemicals I don’t want.

Out comes Vinegar and soda.  It works, but after a while it seems like everything smell of vinegar.

Recently Ava Anderson Non-Toxic came out with 2 peppermint smelling  cleaners.  I couldn’t be happier.  Everything smells fresh and I don’t feel like I’m choking when I use it.

A majority of Westerners include underarm deodorants or antiperspirants in their daily hygiene routine. Despite the acceptance of this practice, many deodorants and antiperspirants increase the body’s toxic load – putting an additional burden on the organ overseeing most of the body’s detoxification responsibilities: the liver. For individuals with chronic liver disease, any extra toxin to be filtered heightens the level of stress on the liver. Unfortunately, this added level of stress can fan local inflammation, a physiological event that can lead to cellular injury and a worsening of the liver’s condition.  Read More…

Hormone Problems?

‎”Dr. David Wallinga, director of the food and health program at the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, says that for years the scientific community has expressed concern over triclosan contributing to the creation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, so-called “superbugs.” Research shows that triclosan, like dio…xin, is an “endocrine disruptor”; meaning it can mimic and block or change regular hormone function.

Finally, I thought I found the right Laundry Detergent that actually left my clothes smelling good but didn’t have a fragrance that bothered my asthmatic son.

Then I became aware of the toxins in our household products.  I really dreaded the thought of having to do a lot of research, and reading labels with all their fine print to figure out what was really safe.

One simple search gave me some answers.  Vinegar!  Try it, you will be amazed at what vinegar can clean.

I have a HE washer.  I put 1/3 cup in the detergent dispenser and 1/4 cup in the softener dispenser.  The clothes came out of the dryer so fresh.  I’m talking about my 13-year-old son’s sweaty smelly stuff.

My 15 year old daughter smelled them in disbelief.  “How did you get them to smell so good?” she asked. She didn’t believe it until she tried it herself.  I challenge you to try it too.

What does this have to do with beauty or pampering your skin?  All those clothes we wash with toxic chemicals rub against your skin.

What else have you used white distilled vinegar for?
